Dining in Style: Singapore

Daphne Schieveen, NMSG Co-Chair

As busy parents you need to spend quality time together, so time to book the babysitter and go for a dinner in style. In Singapore you can find a restaurant within five minutes after stepping outside your door, but is that also your dinner in style? As dining is different for everybody and everybody has a different budget, I’ve listed some options for you to go for dinner in style.

If you have a lot to spend for a good dinner, you can make your way to the Tippling Club in Singapore. They offer two tasting menus (6 and 10 courses), the service is done by the kitchen staff, and in some cases they will finish the dish at your table. It can be simple dishes prepared in an unexpected way or extraordinary dishes. You can choose for a wine pairing menu which also includes cocktails!

If you are craving for a quality Italian Menu, head to Osteria Mozza. They have special offers like dinner with a celebrity chef and every month they will change their tasting menu. In 2016 this restaurant was awarded as one of the Singapore top Restaurants. (B1-42-46, the Shoppes at MBS)

Take a seat in VLV to enjoy modern Chinese cuisine. The chef is one of the best Asian restaurants chefs! This restaurant offers delicious modern Chinese cuisine on the second floor of a beautifully renovated heritage building at Liang Court end of Clarke Quay. It is a great option for Dim Sum lunch with a group of people, as well as dinner.

In the mid-range category head to Bochinche, Cocina Argentina. Contrary to most restaurants, sitting at the bar isn’t a punishment at all in this restaurant. The restaurant isn’t very large, which makes it cozy and creates a nice atmosphere. The chef uses a charcoal grill in the kitchen, which is not a usual item to find in any kitchen. Being able to see the dishes being prepared triggers your curiosity to try different dishes on the menu. (115 Amoy street #01-02 www.bochinche.com.sg)

For amazing food, you have to go to Burnt Ends. Well-deserved as one of the top 10 restaurants in Asia and receiver of the Chef’s Choice Award this year. Run by Australian chef Dave Pynt, everything on the menu is delicious. And the incredible leek, hazelnut and brown butter dish will ensure you also get your daily dose of veggies!

Maggie Joan’s: not easy to spot, but if you have found it, it will give you a pleasant surprise. It is a small restaurant which offers Mediterranean dishes with a twist.
